Victorinox Develops Blade-Free Swiss Army Knife in Response to Global Restrictions

Swiss Army Knife

Victorinox, the world-renowned manufacturer of Swiss Army knives, has announced a groundbreaking shift in its iconic product line. The company is working on a new series of tools designed without blades, targeting global markets where knife regulations are increasingly strict.

Why a Blade-Free Swiss Army Knife?

In many regions, especially urban areas and airports, carrying a blade—even in a multi-tool—can lead to legal trouble. Recognizing this shift, Victorinox CEO Carl Elsener shared that the new models aim to meet the needs of customers who require functional tools but are restricted by local laws.

“We’ve had feedback from cyclists, office workers, and travelers who need tools but can’t carry blades,” said Elsener. “This new line ensures they get the reliability of a Swiss Army knife without legal concerns.”

Features and Functions

The blade-free versions are expected to include screwdrivers, bottle openers, scissors, files, and even digital features like USB storage. This move will not replace the traditional knife-based versions but will supplement the existing range.
